YOGA STATE OF MIND

Serenity, Calm, Stillness… Such are the feelings, we long to seek in our somewhat unbalanced urban lifestyles. A coffee break, a stroll in the garden, a good book, all such things sometimes work as a godsend after the whole day’s rigmarole. The imbalance and this daily churning of our grey matter, force our senses to find a still moment. We need to find the inner balance so that we reach our very own internal epicenter and connect with our own self. When we start feeling the need to find our own center, the craving to strike a balance between the mental and the physical begins. We feel the need to have a sailing platform where, we run the rat race but yet, keep them within in a total neutrality. Meditation and yoga, date back to 5000 years of ancient Indian traditions. Today, the world is going the way our reverent masters and sages did centuries ago. Agreeably, life back then was a sharp contrast to what we live today. We do not have resplendent jungles to meditate in or the most conducive natural environment and, most importantly we do not have the time. These factors make it even more imperative for us, to locate our inner center and sail through the urban madness every day. A cuppa morning java provides the much-needed kick, lasting for the remainder of the day. Likewise, a brief, soul-nourishing yogic start to my day is just as vital. Bowing down to the sun, stretching out the morning stiffness and a couple of yoga asanas, fill me with a surge of energy.  Breathing in the morning breeze and exhaling out negativity is all we’d ever need to have a rewarding day. Relaxed and complacent clothing made of natural fabric is the best you can snug your body into whilst, you are in the most energizing zone of your day (a link for our/right/ Arka cotton yoga wear can be posted here). Khadi  / cotton is just as ancient and authentically Indian as yoga itself. I love to dole out and crack open my sleeping, entangled energies on a beautiful, chakra healing cotton yoga mat by Arka (link to buy a mat from Arka website). The color of your chakra, weaved into a 100% pure cotton mat completes the circle of my daily spiritual does. Let me say here, Yoga can never be a passing fad. It is a way of life and becomes a part of your being, to keep you ever centered. In our upcoming blogs, we will talk about the power of simple breathing practices and how other Yogasanas can result in a balanced mind, body, and soul. Till then lighten up, relax and enjoy. Getting involved in too much diet or exercise can harm your health. In order to maintain a healthy and longer life get involved in normal diet and exercise routine. Along with these two there are some other habits and choices that you can adapt. Here is an overview of 5 easy ways of leading a healthier and happier life. If you are in a habit of smoking then quitting smoking is the first thing that you should do for increasing your life span. You can consult your doctors and discuss about your situation. Reducing the number of cigarettes you have in one day can be a good start. Build your social connections by doing voluntary work and spending time with family friends. People who have strong relationships usually have happier and longer lives. Visit your doctor frequently and discuss any changes in your health with them. It’s important to have a complete check up at least once in a year to know about your health conditions. It’s also easier to overcome diseases if you find out about them in their initial stages. Maintaining a healthy diet is the key to longer and healthier life. Avoid having burgers, nuggets, French fries and bakery products and shift to food items that add proteins and calcium’s in your body such as green vegetables, nuts, blueberries, green or black tea, tomatoes and many others. Lastly exercising is essential for maintaining a healthy life. Doctors usually recommend 30 minutes workout in a day but if you are too busy and don’t have enough time then exercise for an hour every other day. This will not only ensure a healthy life but will also keep you fresh and happy.
